About Villa Rica GA
This trendy community of historic homes and commercial buildings is located 35 miles west of downtown Atlanta off of I-20. Villa Rica is the location of Georgia's first gold strike as well as home to Coca-Cola legend Asa Candler and gospel music founder Thomas A. Dorsey. The historic downtown features a collection of unique shops and restaurants set along raised sidewalks lined by Crepe Myrtles. Wicks Tavern, the oldest commercial building in West Georgia, is a must-see. Villa Rica is split between Douglas and Carroll counties.
Area attractions: Pine Mountain Gold Museum where you can pan for gold yourself, Lamar Moody Park (includes an 8 acre lake and stocked pond) and The Frog at Georgia (a public course designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio).
